Member of the Month, as voted for by the Clubs Committee, is Nick Paul
Nick's awarding is a celebration of both a runner and a volunteer. To our club, Nick is a treasurer for our infamous Parbold Hill Race, but his impact on on the local area is just as special.
Tawd Valley ParkRun, our local 5k event held each Saturday, has had Nick as loyal volunteer since its inception in 2019 and has seen Nick clock up over 100 credits.
But it doesnt stop there! Montane Lakeland 50/100 , a monsterous event held in Coniston(e) each year requires alot of volunteer efforts to look after runners across three days, 100miles of arduous terrain and highly variable weather systems. This year, Nick joined some of our other club members to volunteer his time and energy to the races' success, earning him the opportunity to race in 2024 with more knowledge of what to expect and the support available, something we hope others will follow in his example in the years ahead.
And then there's Nick the runner, regularily flying the club flag at many Park Run events across the country whilst also stepping up to the club events as a key team member, leading by example demonstrating that age is merely a number when you train with a smile, enjoy your sport and support those around you.
Recently Nick has raced the Piethorne Trail race in preparation for the Great north Run in September before joining the team again at Northern Relays. Winter should be a great season and we wish you the best of luck as the distances increase.
